SUPA FUZZ #2
The Supa Fuzz is my take on the legendary Marshall Supa Fuzz that was first introduced in 1966. The Supa Fuzz is almost identical to the Tonebender Professional MKII, with a total of four different component changes. My personal favorite of the MKII family.
The Supa Fuzz is a simple to use fuzz with a lot of sonic possibilities. The two knobs from left to right are - Level (output volume) and Attack (amount of fuzz, or gain). I specifically selected the transistor characteristics that sound great whether your guitars volume is full tilt or almost all the way rolled off. With the Attack between 2 o'clock to maxed, you can go from classic bluesy rock rhythm tones to full on searing leads with a simple turn of your guitar volume. With the guitar volume set to around 2 or 3 you can dial in a really nice dirty/clean tone with a lot of pick sensitive dynamics.
For the Breña FX Supa Fuzz I have added a handy battery bypass toggle switch. Flip it up like a light switch to engage the internal 9v battery. No need to unplug the input jack to save battery life. For additional battery life protection, the input jack is wired so that it bypasses the battery when you don't have your guitar cable plugged in.
Supa Fuzz #2 is loaded with three PNP germanium transistors (OC71/OC45) that I personally measured, auditioned, and individually tuned for this specific pedal.
The Supa Fuzz circuit is an original Breña FX layout design on tag board full of high quality NOS components, such as - Sprague / Mallory capacitors and Dale / Carbon Comp resistors. Military grade PVC insulated and bonded wire is used throughout.
