RIFF-rite "asymmetrical" #003

The RIFF-rite is based on the 1968 silicon Fuzzrite. I auditioned different types of transistors and gain combinations to come up with something that really captures that classic garage rock sound. Built by hand on a custom turret board, and layout with premium components from top to bottom.

- This unit has a unique "asymmetrical" tuning that works great with guitar and bass. I use the term "asymmetrical" to describe the different capacitor values I chose for the Depth control. Original units typically have two of the same value capacitors for this function. I chose a combination of two completely different cap values, with the intention of making the RIFF-rite bass friendly. Clockwise rotation blends in the original stock capacitor value for a traditional Fuzzrite sound. As you turn the Depth control past noon counterclockwise, more bass frequencies are reintroduced, acting like a low pass filter adjustment, and more suitable for bass guitar.

- Let's talk about the translucent green power indicator knobs. I custom ordered these from Sweden Knobs to work with the clear shaft Alpha pots. They illuminate beautifully when the RIFF-rite is engaged.

- The enclosure is powder coated and UV printed with a Japanese Asanoha, hemp leaf pattern that symbolizes growth, good luck, and protection from evil spirits.
